Fascinating Book Spans 20-years of History and Personal Anecdotes

Robert McMillan forged a successful career as a governmental, business and community leaders. Starting his career working for former United States Senator Kenneth Keating, McMillan also worked and advised three presidents; Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. Mr. McMillan was also involved with and was a direct participant in the Cuban Missile Crisis and was the former Chairman of the Panama Canal Commission.

On Long Island, Robert McMillan founded the Long Island Housing Partnership, and was host of the popular current events program, Face Off, on WLIW’s Channel 21.

McMillan’s latest book, ‘Columns’, takes his 20-years of published columns and wraps them into a clever crusade of current events and life stories about this Long Islander’s colorful life in world and national politics, marriage and life’s challenges. Over the years his column has appeared regularly in Nassau County’s Anton Newspapers and occasionally in Newsday, The New York Times and Florida’s Charlotte Sun.

Some of the book columns include; meeting Marilyn Monroe, his Private Audience with pope John Paul II, Billy Joel and the Long island Baymen, Footnote on the 1960 Kennedy/Nixon Election, AIDS is a World Threat, Ronald Reagan, and some personal discussion including Old McMillan’s Farm.

This is Robert McMillan’s second book; the first was Global Passage, the transformation of Panama and the Panama Canal. Robert is married and a resident of garden City. He is a practicing attorney with Bee Ready Fishbein Hatter & Donovan, LLP and is a director with Madison National Bank and the American Medical Association.
